Forum on innovation in Cairo, 25-28 January 2010

Mr Jean Noel Durvy, Director of Innovation Policy in DG Enterprise and Industry, participated as a panellist in the Forum held in Cairo on 25-28 January 2010.

He explained the importance of innovation in enhancing the competitiveness of business and addressing challenges such as demographic and climate change. He added that the Commission was preparing an innovation action plan to be adopted before the autumn 2010.

Mr Durvy also met Dr Hany Barakat, Charter Coordinator in Egypt, who presented key innovation policies and programmes in Egypt, highlighting initiatives inspired by good practice in the EU, like the Egyptian Technology and Innovation centres that were modelled after EU's Innovation Relay Centres.
