This is a consultative document commissioned by the Intermediate Managing Authority (IMA) of Attiki for the development of a concrete RTDI strategy for the region and the elaboration of specific measures that could be funded by the structural funds over the period 2007-2013. 

Based on an analysis of the Regional Innovation System and national and EU RTDI policy trends it draws a Strategy Plan for RTDI on the following axes:

  • Promotion of Research and Excellence.

This axis includes measures such as the development of research collaborations between research organizations and firms, industrial research in SME's and new firms, international collaborations in R&D, sectoral R&D poles.

  • Technological Development and Innovation.

This axis contains measures such as the strengthening RTDI services provision, the development of clusters, commercial exploitation of research results and support to technology transfer offices within HEI's and Research Centres.

  • Science, technology and Society.

With measures such as a Technology Foresight Programme, validation studies for RTDI measures and actions taken in the region and training and mobility schemes.
