Galileo getting ready to initiate its Full Operational Capability deployment on August 21st, 2014 ! Published on: 11/08/2014, Last update: 22/06/2015
On August 21st, 2014, Galileo will initiate the deployment of its Full Operational Capability (FOC) satellites with the launch of Satellites "Doresa" and "Milena" from the European Space Port of Kourou, French Guyana.
After the successful launches of the first 4 satellites part of the In-Orbit Validation Phase in October 2011 and October 2012, and the completion of numerous tests and analysis by the European Space Agency (ESA), Galileo enters a new phase of its development.
On August 21st, 14:31 (CET), two satellites of the Full Operational Capability (FOC), manufactured by German company OHB, will be launched from the European Space Port of Kourou, in French Guyana using Arianespace's medium launcher.
The preparation of the launch have already started and are fully satisfactory.
The satellites have been fuelled, the batteries are being loaded, tests and integration on the dispenser are taking place, the launcher itself is being prepared.
All is in the green.
