On 11 April President José Manuel Barroso and several commissioners will travel to Lisbon for the conference, 'Portugal: Path to growth and jobs' (Rumo ao crescimento e emprego').
President Barroso will speak at the opening session of the conference, which will discuss how EU policies and funding can help Portugal to emerge stronger from the crisis. Also attending from the Commission's side are: Antonio Tajani, Vice-President for industry and entrepreneurship; Androulla Vassiliou, Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth; Maria Damanaki, Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries; Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Regional Policy; László Andor, Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion; and Dacian Cioloş, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development. Portuguese President Aníbal Cavaco Silva and Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho will also speak at the event, which is open to the press.
