Administrative simplification remains high in the political agenda of the EU and the Commission consistently monitors the progress of all EU Member States in simplifying and reducing the times and costs to start-up a business.
Further progress was made by EU Member States in reducing average time and cost of starting the public limited company. In 2013, Croatia was for the first time covered by the monitoring of start-up procedures.
The reduction in average times is due mostly to simplifications implemented in Greece, Spain, Latvia, Finland, Cyprus and the UK. The reduction in average cost is due mostly to simplifications implemented in Greece, Latvia, Lithuania and Austria.
