As part of the Late Payment Information Campaign, Vice-President Antonio Tajani has created an e-desk, allowing European companies to provide information about the application of the Late Payment Directive in their own countries.

The late payment e-desk, launched today by Vice-President Tajani, will allow EU citizens and companies to provide information about the process of applying the new rights granted by the Directive.

The e-desk will also provide more information about the implementation and application of the Directive in all Member States.

The Late Payment Information Campaign aims to increase awareness amongst European stakeholders, in particular SMEs, and within public authorities on the rights conferred by the new Late Payment Directive.

This Directive – which had to be transposed into national law by 16 March 2013 - encourages enterprises and public authorities to comply with payment deadlines in commercial transactions. This is particularly important for SMEs, who are vulnerable to the administrative and financial burdens caused by late payments.

The Campaign runs across the 28 Member States from October 2012 to December 2014.
