The start of the European Union's Multiannual Financial Framework for the years 2014-20 is the perfect time to examine the future of Europe in Space. The long-term budgets allocated to the space sector, along with the legal instruments that are to guide them, are now established.

6th Annual Conference on EU Space Policy

Of course, the time will come to implement the new financial means necessary to pursue the current EU space programmes, such as EGNOS, Galileo and Copernicus, and to launch new initiatives, such as Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST).
It will soon also be time to establish, thanks to the development of a comprehensive space industrial policy, an improved framework within which European space companies can meet the diverse and numerous technological and industrial challenges that will arise along the way to 2020, thereby maintaining and strengthening their competitiveness at a global level [...]
