'All U need is space' comic helps young generations discover space
Who said that Space is boring and isn’t fun for kids? The comic "All U Need Is Space" is designed to bring young students closer to the benefits of space applications.
Available in 24 languages, the comic can be used in schools or at home and is intended to help young students understand how space technologies can improve their daily lives, and how they are applied in practical terms. It also aims at encouraging them to follow a career in science and technology related fields.
"All U Need Is Space" is about the daily life of a teenage schoolgirl named Elena. On every page she is confronted with a different daily situation related to a specific topic. The page then contains an explanatory box with useful information divided into two sections ("Did you know" and "What are we doing"), which provide the reader with more in-depth knowledge of the relevant topic. These boxes shed light on how space technology helps with weather forecasts, pollution, rescue operations, remote medical assistance, automated cars, agriculture, climate change and communications, amongst other crucial themes.
The comic also features a game on every page, which makes the reading more fun.
A list of useful websites has been included at the back of the book for those who want further information.
The comic is free and you can order or download yours at http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/your-learning-space or contact ENTR-POLICY-AND-SPACE-RESEARCH@ec.europa.eu.
