This workshop was dedicated to the following two subjects:
- Regulatory action under REACH, TOYS, POP and ROHS
- Comparison and harmonisation of the PBT-assessment under different pieces of EU legislation.
Examples of chemicals regulated by REACH, Toys, POP and ROHS were presented in order to discuss how to best regulate these chemicals under the right legislative framework, e. g. content versus migration limit values.
This was followed by another group of presentations focusing on PBT assessment, during which the regulatory implications of different EU legislation and REACH, were presented by the responsible Commission services.
The outcome of this workshop should help to implement the recommendations of the REACH review regarding the potential overlaps between authorisations and restrictions under REACH and other risk management measures under other legislation such as ROHS, Toys, POPs.
Competent Authorities of Member States were invited to explain how they have implemented collaboration between the different national departments after the discussion in the 1st Workshop.
This workshop was open to Stakeholders but was considered as a brainstorming session between Commission, Member States and EU Agencies.
