Pilot project on enforcement of outstanding claims by SMEs operating across borders Publicat la data de: 01/03/2013

On this page:

Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) doing business outside their country in the EU internal market sometimes have to face the problem of cross-border debt recovery. This can discourage them from engaging in cross-border business and therefore prevent them from benefitting fully from the possibilities offered by the European single market.

Improved access by SMEs to the relevant information in the area of claims management instruments and options is therefore a key element for encouraging them to do business in the single market. At the same time this will enable the single market to function more smoothly.

The general objective of the project is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that operate across borders by facilitating cross-border debt recovery. SMEs will be helped to optimise their business procedures by improving their access to information on claims management instruments and options. The aim is also to improve the use, understanding and awareness of the available legal instruments.

What?

The project includes the following actions:

  • The publication of a multilingual practice-based guide on claims management and on the application of existing legal instruments for cross-border enforcement of claims.
  • The organisation of seminars in the 27 Member States plus Croatia to provide SMEs with information on credit and claims management and on the available legal instruments.  The seminars will take place from March 2013 to June 2014.
  • The preparation of multilingual teaching modules, the content of which can be integrated into advanced vocational training and advanced training of young entrepreneurs.

When?

The guide will be available on this page in March 2013, first in English and later in all the official EU languages.

The teaching modules will be available on this page by October 2013.

The seminars will consist of one-day events. A list of dates will be announced and regularly updated on this site.

Who?

Invitations to the events will be sent to organizations representing SMEs, chambers of commerce, business associations, entrepreneurs, economic operators, legal professions and the judiciary.

Please do not hesitate to register (by clicking on your country on the map below) if you are interested in participating in one of these events.
