Two new EGNOS-based approach procedures for Rome's airports Ciampino and Fiumicino.
New EGNOS-based approach procedures published for Roma Ciampino (ICAO : LIRA) and Roma Fiumicino (ICAO : LIRF).
Following Milano Linate in December 2012, EGNOS-based approach procedures have been published on Jan 10th for the airports of Rome Ciampino (LIRA) and Rome Fiumicino (LIRF).
EGNOS is the European Satellite-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) that complements the GPS system.
It is Europe's first venture into satellite navigation and a major stepping-stone towards Galileo, Europe's own global satellite navigation system for the future.
