The Workshop on EU Regional Smart Specialisation for the EU Defence Sector is jointly organised by the European Commission (DG ENTR) and the European Defence Agency (EDA) on 28 January 2013 in Brussels.
The purpose of the workshop is to introduce the concept of smart specialisation and regional policy funding to European companies and research centres working in the field of defence. At the same time, the aim is to focus the attention of regional decision makers on the potential contribution of this sector to regional economic development. The workshop will be centered on three main themes: potential ways to increase cross-fertilisation between military and civil sectors; best practices of defence-related clusters contributing to regional development and support that regional policy can offer to defence-related SME supply chain.
