A new harmonised European standard for electricity metering equipment Paskelbta: 16/08/2012
A consolidated list of references of harmonised standards under the measuring instruments directive 2004/22/EC have been published in the Official Journal.
The references of a new harmonised European standard in the electrotechnical area were cited for the first time: 'EN 62059-32-1:2012: Electricity metering equipment - Dependability -Part 32-1: Durability - Testing of the stability of metrological characteristics by applying elevated temperature'.
The harmonised European standards, the references of which have been published by the Commission in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ C 218 of 24.07.2012, p.7) provide solutions for compliance and presumption of conformity with relevant essential health and safety requirements of the measuring instruments directive that they cover.
However, the use of harmonised standards remains voluntary and manufacturers can choose whether or not to follow a harmonised standard to manufacture their products. Manufacturers may thus use other technical solutions providing for an equivalent level of safety. In that case, they must be able to prove that their products are in conformity with the mandatory essential health and safety requirements, taking due account of the state of the art.
