UPDATE 21/10/2011: The launch of the first 2 operational Galileo satellites was postponed to Friday 21 October, at 12:30:26 pm CEST. The Brussels event will therefore take place on Friday 21, starting at 12.00.

The launch of the first two Galileo IOV (In-Orbit Validation) satellites will take place on 21th October from Kourou, in French Guiana. The European Commission, with the European Parliament, is organising a celebratory event on the Solidarnosc esplanade of the European Parliament beginning at 12h00 on 20th October.

The event will begin at 12h00 and The launch will be introduced by a speech from President Barroso who will be joining us and followed by a direct, live transmission of the launch from Kourou. Check regularly the Galileo website for updates.
