Corporate social responsibility (CSR) looks different from country to country.<br/>In some EU Member states this concept, whereby companies integrate social and environmental concerns in their business operations, is well established and there is a high level of enterprise awareness supported by effective public policies to promote CSR.<br/>In other European countries, the awareness and development of corporate social responsibility is much less advanced.
The European Commission is co-financing four initiatives to encourage national CSR platforms in a number of European countries where CSR is currently less well developed.
After a competitive selection process organised in 2010, funding was allocated to support multistakeholder initiatives in four countries: Macedonia, Croatia, Slovakia and Estonia.
