Photo exhibition - Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Publicerat den: 17/08/2010, Senaste uppdatering: 23/09/2010
A photo exhibition on the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, to which belongs the "Via Francigena" (literally, pathway of the Franks) will be officially launched on 27 September at the Berlaymont in Brussels.
The "Via Francigena" route follows the path taken by Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury, who travelled to Rome in 990 to meet Pope John XV and receive the investiture 'pallium'.
The various regions, provinces and towns along the Via Francigena have decided to join forces with a view to enhancing the cultural and natural heritage. The overall "Cultural Routes" programme is referred to as an interesting model in the recently adopted Communication on Tourism as it promotes a sustainable and qualitative touristic offer but also to discover a cultural heritage shared by several European states.
