Europe 2020 Strategy for Growth and Jobs - Coastal and Maritime Tourism and Blue Growth Strategies for the EU

SMEs in Europe have been hit hard by the economic crisis and they face many challenges that require adapting to new ways of doing business, accessing markets and funding. Business partnerships and networks are essential to help SMEs to grow and produce new jobs which is Europe's number one priority.

The Vice-President of the European Commission Antonio Tajani is keen to further assist SMEs in Greece to successfully overcome current difficulties following his successful Athens visit to foster business cooperation last year. As a result a new Business-to-Business event will be held in Athens on 11 March 2014.

Under the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Vice President of European Commission Antonio Tajani and Commissioner Damanaki,  together with the Greek Ministry of Tourism are organising a high level conference focusing on tourism and blue growth on 10 March. A business to business event will follow on 11 March in order to promote business partnerships between Greek and European SMEs active in sectors identified as key contributors to growth, such as:

  • Agri-Food/Food Processing/Aquaculture
  • Biotech and Blue Biotech
  • Energy
  • ICT
  • Tourism

Why participate?

The event will be a unique opportunity for enterprises aiming at:

  • Reaching the Greek market and its key players
  • Examining business and investment opportunities in Greece
  • Networking and establishing cross-border contacts including Research & Innovation (R&I) collaborations in the context of Horizon 2020 open calls.
