| Small Business Act - Database of good practices at national level | ||||||||||||||||||||
| This database contains a
series of commendable activities by public authorities in the
27 EU Member States to improve the business environment of small
and medium-sized enterprises (SME) throughout the European
Union. The European Commission encourages EU Member States to
learn from each other and to take up measures which have proved
to be successful in other Member States. The Small Business Act (SBA), adopted in 2008 by the European Council, is the new EU strategy for the improvement of the business environment for SMEs. The European Commission closely monitors its implementation, and it serves as the framework for this database. The database includes good practices from different sources: 1) The future EU 2020 Strategy (formerly "Lisbon strategy") is an economic policy process through which the European Commission and the 27 EU Member States assess and reform their micro-economic measures. 2) The European Enterprise Awards (EEA) reward public authorities that are at the forefront of creating favourable conditions for SMEs. The next award ceremony will take place in Madrid (Spain) on 31 May 2010. 3) Specific expert groups of national representatives like, for example, the Enterprise Policy Group (EPG), the Expert Group on Supporting the internationalisation of SMEs, etc. contribute to the identification and improvement of SME policies. This website replaces and incorporates the previous on-line catalogue of good practices collected under the European Charter for Small Enterprises. For further information on a specific measure in a particular country, please contact the person indicated for each good practice. |
