Aim of the Assistance
In 2010, the People 2 People team is organising 30 events including 9 single-beneficiary events which are taking place in the region.
The EU Delegation to Turkey and the P2P team have decided to organise a workshop dealing with the role of civil society organisations in protecting refugees and asylum seekers.
This seminar is an opportunity to briefly present the recent developments in the field of asylum, but also to analyse the participation of civil society organisations in this process, their activities, their strengths and weaknesses.
The aim of the meeting is thus to bring together representatives of civil society organisations as well as the relevant public institutions from Turkey in order to:
1. improve their knowledge of the EU acquis and member states practices in the field of asylum, as well as of the Turkish legislation, including recent developments and relevant debates;
2. introduce some good practices already used by the public institutions and civil society organisations in EU member states and in Turkey for ensuring the effective protection of asylum seekers and refugees and for empowering the civil society in the asylum field;
3. exchange information and reinforce the dialogue between the relevant stakeholders within Turkey and the EU.
This event will take place in Istanbul, with participants coming from civil society organisations all over Turkey.
Simultaneous translation will be provided during the event.
