EU Enlargement Five Years on – a Balance Sheet and What Next?

Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn discussed the EU's most recent and largest ever round of enlargement at a Breakfast Policy Briefing organised by the European Policy Centre (EPC). Commissioner Rehn presented a balance sheet of the EU enlargement in 2004 and 2007, discussed the lessons learnt from the previous enlargements, and elaborated on the way ahead. International conference “EU Enlargement – 5 Years After” in Prague on 2 March 2009

The Czech Presidency in co-operation with the European Commission, at the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the biggest EU enlargement, organised a conference reviewing the effects of the 2004 enlargement on economic and labour market developments both in the "old" and the "new" member states of the EU.
