Flash Eurobarometer survey provides new insights on citizens' views about EU enlargement
27.000 citizens of the enlarged EU were interviewed from 26 January to 1 February 2009, ahead of the May celebrations of the fifth anniversary of the EU's 2004 enlargement. The respondents gave their views on the effect of integration into the EU of altogether ten Central and Eastern European countries, Cyprus and Malta. They also spelled out which factors they would want policy makers to consider when deciding on further enlargements.
