Fossil Fuels Forum Berlin

We invite you to consult this website regularly for updates to the agenda as well as for further information about the 2011 Plenary.

The seventh plenary session of the European Fossil Fuels Forum (the Berlin Forum) will take place in Berlin on 24-25 October 2011.


Registration for the event is available. Please complete the registration form msw8 - 48 KB [48 KB]  and forward it to the address indicated on the form.

Please note that the Commission is not in a position to cover the expenses of the participants (travel or accommodation). Nevertheless we intend to facilitate the booking of participants' accommodation in Berlin and propose the following two hotels with special price rates for 23-25 October 2011:

Please note that you need to book your hotel room directly, quoting the passwords mentioned above. Bookings should be made before 12 September 2011 in order to benefit from the special price rates; there is a limited number of rooms available in the two hotels.


The venue of the event is the Conference Centre of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (Invalidenstraße 48, 10115 Berlin).

The Plenary will run from 12h00 on Monday, 24 October until 15h00 on Tuesday, 25 October. There will be a dinner hosted by the European Commission in the evening of 24 October in the MARITIM ProArte Hotel (Friedrichstrasse 151, 10117 Berlin).

The topics to be discussed at the Plenary will include:

  • fossil fuels in the EU's energy mix,
  • safety of offshore operations,
  • CO2 capture and storage, and
  • good practices in indigenous fossil fuels.

The topics will be divided into four sessions, with two sessions planned for each day of the conference.
