Energy from abroad

Caucasus, Central Asia

On 24 January 2011, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of energy between the EU and the Republic of Uzbek was signed.

With their natural resources and strategic geographical position vis-à-vis the EU, the countries of Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia hold important potential as energy transiting and producing countries. Recognising this potential, the EU have been participating in the development of the energy sector in these countries since their independence.

The INOGATE Programme is an international energy co-operation programme between the EU and the Partner Countries.
