The European Commission (EC) has started a project to harmonise the gas quality in the EU. This work is being done in cooperation with the European Association for the Streamlining of Energy Exchange (EASEE-gas), Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) and all other stakeholders, based on the discussions in the Madrid Forum.
To achieve a free flow of gas through agreed gas quality parameters in the EU, the EC has issued a mandate to the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN). As part of the mandate, the EC has also contracted GL Industrial Services, in cooperation with Pöyry Energy Consulting, to carry out a cost-benefit analysis of the harmonisation.
