Consultation period

From  22/07/2011  to  16/09/2011

Policy field(s)

Electricity, transparency

Target group(s)

Electricity market participants, consumer organisations, industry organisations, energy regulators, Member States authorities.

Objective of the consultation

For efficient electricity markets to develop it is essential that all market participants have access to complete and timely available information on supply and demand fundamentals including the usage and availability of networks.

However, the current EU level data disclosure framework does not provide for the level of detailing which is considered necessary for market participants to develop a coherent and accurate view of electricity market fundamentals across Europe.

In order to remedy the situation, in January 2010 the Commission requested the European Regulator's Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG) to give advice in this matter and prepare a draft guideline. The present consultation follows up on the advice provided by ERGEG and provides interested parties with the opportunity to comment on its completeness and, in particular, any potential impact on competition.
