The European Commission and the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy hosted the third EU-Norway energy conference in Brussels.
Participants welcomed by Dominique Ristori, Director General for Energy at the European Commission. The Conference continued with keynote speeches by Miguel Arias Cañete, European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, and Tord Lien, Norwegian Minister for Petroleum and Energy.
The two panels of the conference focused on EU-Norway energy cooperation, in particular on the role for gas in the EU of tomorrow and the Nordic electricity market as a model of regional integration.
Norway is a strategic energy partner for the EU, and a major supplier of oil, gas and electricity. As a member of the European Economic Area, it has also adopted EU energy market rules in its legislation.
