CO2 Capture and Storage (CCS)
Following the adoption of the Regulation (EC) No 663/2009 that established the European Energy Programme for Recovery (EEPR), the launch of a call for proposals and subsequent evaluation, on 9 December 2009, the European Commission announced details of the six CO2 capture and storage (CSS) projects that have been selected for funding. The total EC contribution to these projects amounts to 1 billion EUR.
Selected CCS projects
The six projects are:
- Belchatow (Poland)
- Compostilla (Spain)
- Don Valley (UK)
- Jänschwalde (Germany)
- Porto Tolle (Italy)
- Rotterdam (The Netherlands)
The projects will be required to share and disseminate effectively some of the key results of their technological advances and project progress. To encourage and facilitate knowledge sharing among the EEPR projects and other European CCS projects, the European Commission initiated the European CCS Demonstration Project Network.
