This website is developed and managed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy and Transport.
This site offers information on energy policies. An up-to-date coverage of EU energy is also available on the policies and activities pages of Europa.
Most of the pages of the Energy web site are layed out in three columns.
The left side column contains three menus:
"Policy areas"
On the Energy home page, the "Policy areas" menu lists all available energy topics (European strategies, Sustainable energyAll available translations., Renewable Energy, Energy efficiency, Technology & innovation, Oil, Coal, Gas & Electricity, Nuclear energy, Security of supply, Energy infrastructure, Market Observatory, International relations, Research). By clicking on a specific policy area, a new menu related to that topic is displayed.
"Information"
The information menu offers information on the Press room (Rapid database), Newsletter (the weekly newsletter published by Energy and Transport DG), Call for tenders, Infringements, Evaluations and Statistics.
"Agencies"
This menu lists Community and Executive Agencies in the field of energy (EACI, ESA).
The right side column contains useful links to other energy areas and quick links to other EU information web sites and tools.
Commissioner for Energy is a link to Andris Piebalgs's web site.
Multimedia portal is a link to the web site featuring videos and web-streaming of important events.
Publications is a link to our recent publications in print. A complete list of publications on energy issues is available on the EU Bookshop web site.
Public consultations, Grants, Events, Studies and What's new are additional information on energy services (on the Energy home page these topics list the services for all energy areas but in a specific policy area the information is specific to that topic.
The quick links buttons are links to various EU tools and services.
The centre of the page displays the main contents part of the page.
The Energy home page and topics home pages (European strategies, Sustainable energyAll available translations., Renewable Energy, Energy efficiency, Technology & innovation, Oil, Coal, Gas & Electricity, Nuclear energy, Security of supply, Energy infrastructure, Market Observatory, International relations, Research) start with an introduction and if possible embedded videos. A larger selection of videos (in more languages and in additional formats) is available on the Audiovisual Service web site of the Commission.
The "Focus on" column is a list of quick links to specific topics and initiatives starting with a link to the Summaries of legislation.
The "Daily news" column is a list of the latest "What's new" announcements. On the Energy home page this section also lists the latest press release on energy.
The Energy web site currently is available in English only but, when available, links to other Europa services (Eur-Lex, Rapid, Summaries of legislation, etc) lead to pages where the information is translated.

and
select the language of your choice.
