User and Security Module

The User and Security module (USM) allows the MS liaisons to enter directly their requests for access via the SFC2007 system. The module has been launched on the 1st of March 2011. To know more about the new USM, check out the powerpoint presentation or view the video demo.

The USM offers many advantages to MS liaisons:

  • User management is more transparent: MS liaisons can see the history and status of their requests, they can check the list of users they are dealing with.. at any moment and in real time.

  • The treatment of access requests is quicker, easier.

  • Inconsistencies/missing info are detected directly when the MS liaison is creating the requests (so corrections can be done immediately).

  • Information on processed/returned request is automatically sent to the MS liaisons and to the users.

F.A.Q. on the USM

How do I access the he USM?

What can be done via the USM?

When will the USM be available?

Is the USM module also available for MS liaison Deputies?

Are there trainings or manuals foreseen?

Is it possible for the users to modify their data themselves?

Is it possible to request for certificates via the USM?

Can the requests for access be entered for different environments?

Will password reset be handled via the USM?

How can I know which roles are incompatible?

You (as MS liaison or deputy) need a username and a password. If you already have your username and password for SFC2007, you can access the USM.
(Information on usernames and passwords has been sent to the MS liaisons and MS liaison deputies via e-mail).
Then, you can access SFC2007 as usual and find the USM under the menu Utilities > Access Requests. The USM allows MS liaisons to enter request for: creation, modification or disabling of web users and certificates. The USM also allows to request for renewal of expired certificates and to grant access to users managed by other MS liaisons (very useful for cross-border programmes). Additionally, the USM allows the MS liaisons to check the history and status of their requests, and the list of users/certificates they are managing. The USM was launched on 1/3/2011. Yes, the USM is available for MS liaisons and for their deputies.
The deputies are able to do exactly the same actions as the MS liaison. No presence trainings are foreseen. However, a manual is available in English, German and French. Additionally, the SFC2007 support team is at your disposal for any question or doubt you might have (sfc2007-info@ec.europa.eu.eu) For now, any changes to the user's personal data must be done via an access request entered in the USM by the MS liaison .
However, a functionality is foreseen to allow the users to modify their personal data only, (Not their roles and permissions!!) but this functionality will be implemented at a later stage. Yes, you can see the list of existing users via the menu Utilities > Contacts/Users Yes, MS liaisons and deputies are able to request access to users and to request certificates. Yes, MS liaisons can enter requests for the "Production" environment, for "Training", "Acceptance" (test) and "Beta" environment. This is done via the USM of each environment. The specific links to these environments are available in the user manual (en, fr, de). No, password reset will continue to be done via e-mail as it is done today. A user cannot have incompatible roles within the same profile. The list of incompatible roles is available here. Additionally, in USM, when you select a role and permission incompatible with other ones, these become greyed and you cannot select them.
