Despite the initial concept of empowerment being more than 3 centuries old, we can say that empowerment processes are still marginal in the various stages of eth projects and in the practice of actions, whether decentralised or o not, promoted by the organisations that seek social well being and integrated and sustained development. However, the scarcity of information (centralised, systemised, clear and referenced) supporting these types of actions, available in physical and virtual libraries, not about the scientific exploration of the concept, but about its benefits and applicability in practical and current contexts, was behind the inspiration for the present guide.
