Minimum standards - and beyond...: heading for Malmö
The contribution of EQUAL to a dignified standard of living for asylum
seekers - European Policy Forum - 22-24 May - Sweden

Since the article presenting early
March,
on this website, the
purpose and outline of the event, a lot of interesting speakers have been
confirmed and the content of the event has been further elaborated. The most
exciting new features are:
- new developments for the integration of asylum seekers and in the policy areas related to the Common European Asylum System will be announced at the conference;
- the event will see the participation of two Directors of the European
Commission (DG Employment and Social Affairs and DG Justice, Freedom and
Security);
- the Minister of Migration from Sweden will take part in
the event;
- practitioners, beneficiaries, policy and decision makers will jointly
present EQUAL good practices to show the benefits from various perspectives;
- more than 20 Member States have signed up to have a stand at the
Showcasing Exhibition;
- DG Employment and Social Affairs, the European Refugee Fund (ERF)
represented by DG Justice, Freedom and Security and the European Council on
Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) will all have a stand at the exhibition too.

The Policy Forum is organised by the Swedish ESF Council, the Swedish
Thematic Network on Asylum and the city of Malmö, with the support of DG Employment,
Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities.
A Working Group, established to assist in the organisation of the event,
comprised representatives of the Managing Authorities and/or National Support
Structures from Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy and Poland, DG Justice, Freedom
and Security and the European Council on Refugees and Exiles.
