Putting the Heart into the Lisbon Process...
March 2007
"Putting the Heart into the Lisbon Process – Strategies for Inclusive
Entrepreneurship and Social Enterprise" : a major Policy Forum to be held in Hannover
on the 5 & 6 June 2007.
Held under the German
Presidency, the Hannover Policy Forum will be the main mainstreaming event for work carried
out under EQUAL in the field of business creation and social enterprise. Its
first objective is to show the importance of strategies to promote
self-employment, small businesses and the social economy in order to create jobs
in places and for groups that really need them. The second objective is
to build a broader community of policy makers and implementers, from both Member
States and Regions, who are prepared to develop further actions in these areas
during the next round of the Structural Funds.
The event is part of a chain of
activities at European level organised by various Member States with the
support of the European Commission.
The forum will be opened by Gerd Andres, Secretary of State for Employment
and Social Affairs, and will involve 270 important players active in the promotion of
entrepreneurship and/or social enterprise at national, regional or local level.
They may be dealing with key policy fields such as the strategy for
entrepreneurship, business advice and training, finance, future growth sectors,
public procurement, using the structural funds and so forth.
The event will be structured around three workshop sessions following a
logical progression:
- identifying the challenges facing inclusive and social entrepreneurship;
- discussing successful responses and
- investigating strategies for the forthcoming Structural Fund period.
Interpretation will be provided to and from German, English and French.
