Despite of high academic background many refugees encounter difficulties in finding work. They do not have a good command of Dutch and, therefore, suffer social isolation. The project envisages elaboration of new means to assist in social revitalising (ex. voluntary work) towards employment (ex. via educational courses and purposeful search for combination of schooling at work) on the basis of demand and opportunity approach. It will be taken into account that the group sounds its wishes, and therefore, - selects its intermediary officer itself - there is an intensive communication with the original socio-cultural organisations.

Objective Development Partnership (DP); Complimentary approach to all Afghans, Iraqis, and Iranians, who are dependant on social welfare or unemployed. We would like to approach them through their organisations and through a key person in their ethnical groups in order to examine that they fully enjoy possibilities, however also to offer other instruments to increase the range of possibilities. These instruments are diverse and will be accommodated to the need. Examples can be as such as: language courses in combination with language internships, variety of courses for qualified work directed to voluntary work, paid work, assistance in establishing entrepreneurship, stimulate participation in social and cultural life in Amersfoort.

All members of DP are represented in a Steering Committee to join efforts in decision-making matters with regard to the project. The Activation Centre and the municipality will own programmes; NVA and NGOs will have an important advising role. The etnic members of the OP will be involved in the dissemination and mainstreaming (see communication-plan)

The project participants will be offered courses according to the demands and will be assisted in finding reasonable occupation. They will be encouraged to become active, and this is the objective of the project. In this respect DP approaches groups to support their ambitions and wishes. Veel vluchtelingen lukt het niet om werk te vinden, ondanks een vaak hoge vooropleiding. Zij beheersen de Nederlandse taal niet voldoende en raken daardoor ook sociaal geisoleerd. Het project beoogt om vanuit de behoefte en mogelijheden van de groep zelf nieuwe wegen te vinden om mensen sociaal te activeren (bijv. via vrijwilligerswerk) en naar werk toe te leiden (bijv via scholing en gericht zoeken naar combinaties van werk en scholing). Er wordt rekening gehouden met de behoefte van de doelgroep door -een brugpersoon uit de eigen groep aan te stellen, - intensief contact met de eigen sociaalculturele organisaties - uit te gaan van de wensen en mogelijkheden van de client

Doel OP; Een sluitende aanpak van alle Afghanen, Irakesen, Somaliers, en Iraniers, die zich in Amersfoort in een uikeringssituatie bevinden of werkzoekend zijn. Wij willen hen bereiken via de eigen organisaties en een sleutelfiguur van hun eigen etniciteit, onderzoeken of zij hun mogelijheden volledig benutten en hen instrumenten bieden om hun mogelijkheden te vergroten. Deze instrumenten zijn divers en worden aangepast op de vraag. Voorbeelden kunnen zijn: taalles in combinatie met taalstages, taal/werkstages, diverse kwalificerende opleidingen, toeleiden tot vrijwilligerswerk, toeleidentot werk, hulp bij het opzetten van een eigen onderneming, stimuleren deelname aan sociaal en cultureel leven van Amersfoort

De projectdeelnemers krijgen naar behoefte scholing en ondersteuning bij het vinden van zinvolle bezigheden aangeboden. Zij worden gestimuleerd om zelf actief te worden, dat is het doel van het project. Hierbij gaat het OP uit van de wensen en behoeften van de deelnemers zelf. Zij krijgen door dit project opnieuw zelfvertrouwen om te proberen werk te vinden.
