For Europe Day and in the framework of the 2010 European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, the Delegation of the European Commission in Eritrea has carried out a symbolic action with the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) under the title: "Operation - Donkey".
The aim of the initiative is to empower poor women in rural areas and improve their living standards by providing donkeys to fetch water and engage in income generating activities.
