Ecumenical Conference will launch recommendations to fight poverty and social exclusion

Eurodiaconia is co-organising with CEC (Coference of European Churches), Comece (Commission of the Bishop’s Conferences of the European Community) and Caritas Europa, a conference entitled “New Ways of Solidarity: A joint commitment to combating poverty and social exclusion”.

On 30 September 2010 Members of the European Parliament, EU level representatives and representatives of different churches, Caritas and Diaconia from all over Europe, will meet in the European Parliament.

The conference is taking place in the framework of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, and the recent June European Council decision on the Europe 2020 Strategy. The Europe 2020 Strategy has set numbered targets for poverty reduction across Member States.

The four organisers will launch their common recommendations to fight poverty and social exclusion in the EU. After the conference the work of Christian actors, working on the fight against poverty across Europe, will be exposed.
