CONSUMER ENVIRONMENT CONFERENCE: POWERFUL CONSUMERS AND RESPONSIBLE ENTREPRENEURS
The Consumer Protection Board of Estonia, Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and European Commission Representation in Estonia are pleased to announce the Consumer Environment Conference: Powerful Consumers and Responsible Entrepreneurs. The conference will take place on 21 November 2012 in the Swissôtel Tallinn (Address: Tornimäe 3, 10145 Tallinn, Estonia).
Developments in the consumer environment such as increased mobility, easier access to goods and services, technical development and changes in the consumer behaviour have brought along several opportunities for consumer markets. At the same time, we are facing new challenges. Although largely harmonised European standards exist in law for supporting consumer protection, in practice the rights are often not protected, either nationally or in cross-border situations. Is strengthening the legislation a proper solution or should the consumer as an individual take action? Is there anything to be done in order to bring together the needs of both entrepreneurs and consumers or should we accept that they are and always will be enemies?
The objectives of the conference are:
- to discuss self-regulation issues; - to discuss conflicts of interests in consumer environment.
The conference targets entrepreneurs, NGO’s, policymakers, all actors in formal and non-formal education involved or interested in the development of consumer environment, entrepreneurship and consumer rights.
