FULL DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING CONTENTS
IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE TRAINING: (EN)
Participants will be asked to complete a questionnaire and do preparatory reading of key documents provided.
1. To update participants in
(a) Current developments in ELT methodology and
(b) Aspects of modern British culture and society.
2. To demonstrate a range of activities for using these updates in class.
3.To develop participants' own language skills for embedding these activities in classroom practice.
There will be an emphasis on enjoyment and active learner involvement, creativity and a multi-intelligence approach. Strategies will include a mixture of lectures, active workshops and field studies.
All material jointly constructed during the course will be e-mailed. Participants will share their experiences in using new strategies and activities.
 
PROGRAMME OF THE TRAINING ACTIVITIES (DAY BY DAY)
Day 1. Welcome and Introductions. Warm up activities; discussion of programme contents.
Day 2. Cultural Excursion: exploring local dialects and folklore.
Day 3. English Language Update: developments in English and ELT perspecives worldwide. Implications for the classroom.
Day 4. British TV and Press Update. Activities for adaptation in class.
Day 5. British Education Systems: current developments and sample activities.
Day 6. AM. Thinking Outside the Box! PM. Field Studies
Day 7. AM British Society and Lifestyles (A): current trends and activities for use in class. PM Individual Assignments
Day 8 AM British Society and Lifestyles (B). PM Plenary review of assignments
Day 9. AM Language Master Class – from Backformations to Malapropisms! PM Individual and group preparation for Finale.
Day 10. Evaluation and steps towards future collaboration; update on European funding opportunities.
