IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE TRAINING: (EN)
All willing to participate in the course are asked to email Bialowieza Biodiversity Academy to make a provisional reservation before submitting a grant application to their National Agency.
Registered participants will receive a questionnaire to specify areas of their work, target adult audience and their expectations of the workshop. Also they will be asked to prepare a short presentation with some pictures or videos about institutions they work for.
The main goals of the course are to prepare adult educators to their work by :
• showing various methods of teaching about biodiversity of forest habitats and importance of natural processes on Bialowieza Forest example,
• broadening the horizons of its participants on environmental education – how to teach adults about nature protection and advantages of protected areas,
• presenting various didactic methods used by different types of education centres-established by state institutions and private,
• exchanging teaching problems and techniques of outdoor and indoor education for adults,
• providing an opportunity to meet like-minded educators from different countries with a common interest in teaching about conservation and popularization of protected areas
The workshop is directed mainly at adult educators working in the adult education and environmental protection areas, incl. national parks rangers and educators, NGO’s and environmental conservation institutions staff and organizations.
The course will be given by local and international trainers experienced in teaching adults and also preparing education centres’ staff, national park educators and rangers. The participants of the course will be able to look at the topic from different points of view concerning the environmental education and local development of the green areas. Many of the activities will be held outdoor: visits to educational centres, excursions, walks and other practical exercises. Also indoor lectures, presentations, discussions.
On the final afternoon participants will discuss dissemination ideas and complete a course evaluation form. They will be encouraged to choose one teaching method they try to incorporate into their own educational work and compare the results after 3 months.
The email contact group and a Facebook page will be set up to facilitate on-going contact for the group. It will enable the exchange of knowledge and new ideas so all of the participants can benefit from each other. The trainers will also be included in communication.
