FULL DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING CONTENTS
IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE TRAINING: (EN)
General reading on outdoor education, outdoor adventure education and experiential learning.
General reading on active citizenship, environmental learning and parent and school partnership.
Provided material on cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
Introduction of outdoor education and it´s different concepts and approaches.
To strengthen the theoretical and practical field of operation within outdoor education for the participants.
Create and share best practice, to learn different approaches to education and learning in the outdoors.
To gain knowledge and training in practical task carried out in the outdoors within the curriculum.
To understand landscape qualities as a source of education, recreation and play.
Introduce local participation as a resource for establishment of outdoor education facilities.
Promote European citizenship.
The course is a 6 day long course held by a Reykjavik based seminar provider, Cursus Iceland ehf. The seminar provider is an established collaboration between teaching and educative professionals, with high educational aims.
The course will be interdisciplinary, with lectures, workshops, group activities, field trips, excursions, practical work discussions, visits and social activities, and where the participants will experience teaching and learning outdoors.
The course is divided into several themes addressing the most recognized concepts, approaches and best practices within outdoor education. Every day of teh course will be dedicated to a certain topic/concept or approach. Each day is divided into two major modules, an indoor lecture program which takes place in the morning and a workshop module that either takes place outdoor or indoor according to the relevant task.
During the course the participants will get to know theories and implementation on outdoor education, landscape qualities for educational, recreational and play purposes and the establsihemnt of otdoor education facilities. Also a visit to outdoor education sites, an elementary school and field trip in the nature.
The course will contain experiential learning and activities for implementing in the outdoors.
The methods will be "hands on learning", "non-formal learning" and learning by doing and lectures about relevant topics carried out by experts in each field.

Participants are encouraged to keep their netwok and connections gained in the course alive and to read further on the matter of outdoor education and local participation. Participants are also encouraged to develop a practice of involving th eparent groups in the establishment of the outdoor education facilities.
After the course the participants are to assess the learning gained during the course, and evaluate the process. By doing so and handing it in the will receive a diploma crediting their participation and learning from the seminar.

Wednesday.
Module 1: Methods and approaches.
Different ways of outdoor education and learning.
Outdoor lunch.
Module 2: Out, see and experience.
Outdoor workshop, field trip and visit.


Thursday.
Module 1: Outdoor education facilities.
Establishment; landscape, design and construction.
Outdoor lunch.
Module 2: Outdoor workshop
Craftsmanship; learning methods of working with natural materials.

Friday.
Module 1: Community resource; Active citizenship, non-formal learning, parent-school collaboration.
Conclusion, discussions
Lunch.
Module 2: Excursion, guided tour and historical learning.
Social event, international evening.

Saturday.
Evaluation; assessment and preparation of diploma.
