FULL DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING CONTENTS
IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE TRAINING: (EN)
Previous to the course, it is necessary to reflect deeply on the relationship between Science and Art. The best way would be to choose a form of Art (literature, painting ...) and to write some words about the thin line you imagine may hold this form of Art and Science together. We suggest you should write short essays (about 10 written lines) involving Art and Science, and the more imaginative, the better!

Due to the fact that this course is going to take place in Santiago de Compostela, an UNESCO Heritage Site since 1984 and European Capital of Culture in 2000, we consider important for you to get some information about this city and the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago. During the course, we will provide information about two other Galician cities we are going to visit, which are also UNESCO Heritage Sites: La Coruña (Hercules Tower) and Lugo (Old Roman Wall).

The training course is an approach to the basic aspects of the relationship between Art and Science. Step by
step we will analyze the various ways Science may become Art, and how and when Art could be considered
Science. The main aim is for the teachers to get some hints they can use in their Art and Science lessons, in
order to convey to their students the idea that both S&A are, in a deep sense, a similar thing and that they are
closely related. Apart from that, we will observe the different artistic expressions coming from different
cultures.
Finally, yet not less important, we will encourage the trainees to develop some different Comenius Projects
when they return home.
The course will begin with a discussion about Science and Art.
Next, we will start with a series of lectures about different Art forms and their relationship with Science.
We will talk in particular about Women and Physics, Fish and Electronics... and some other subjects that
include a revisited view of science models, new architecture views and passwords in literature. A round of
questions will follow each lecture.
We will also have two visits to Heritage Cities (La Coruña and Lugo), we will also visit the Aquarium
Finisterrae in La Coruña, and the Renewable Energy Park of Sotavento.
The trainees will be free to develop their own ideas on how to transmit this kind of subjects to their students.
They will come up with ideas, put forward suggestions and create papers with lesson plans, and we will
analyze these proposals together.
The trainees will be encouraged to carry out the proposals they submitted during the course. They will keep
in touch with the speakers and the trainers, being the main idea for them to start their own Comenius or
Grundvig project.
Besides, we are setting up an international association (SACRIT, SCIENCE, ART) which is going to
stimulate people to be in touch with one another. These kinds of associations are always interesting for
teachers.
