FULL DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING CONTENTS
IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE TRAINING: (EN)
The participants will be asked to fill in a questionnaire about their background (school/organisation, teaching experience (subjects), skills in English, ICT skills and experience). Furthermore the participants will have access to the CIRCE manual on teaching Classics with ICT as well as to the resources on the CIRCE website www.CIRCE.eu. Hands-on training materials will be given out during the course.
To enable teachers in Classics all over Europe to Exploit the ICT resources available for their teaching of Ancient Greek and/or Latin and/or Classical Civilisation and to help create a new learning environment for Classics with ICT. Basic skills will be trained along with more advanced exercises and the new pedagogical and didactic approach enabled by ICT will be addressed
Various topics from the CIRCE manual will be presented and followed up by workshops using computers to train various skills and point out the resources available for Classics (different kinds of software, internet resources, various databases, electronic dictionaries etc.). All will be put into in a pedagogical and didactic frame.
A lesson plan created by the participant during the course can - after testing in class - be added to the lesson plan section of the project website. A Yahoo group and the website www.circe.eu will provide a forum for the participants to discuss the in-service training after it has ended and to exchange further experiences and materials.

Sunday 4th July

Introduction to the course and the participants
Introduction to the CIRCE Project and materials, including the Manual, website and particular sections, including use of fonts section
Good Practice in using technology in the classroom
Issues for whiteboard users, including use of tables in Word
Copyright issues
Creation of a Yahoogroup as a tool for coordinating projects
Optional session: photography during site visits
Introduction to course evaluation

Tuesday 6th July
Creation and sharing of materials on the web 2.0: uploading images to Flickr
Collaborative exercise in website building
Optional session: display of exemplification materials Roman Technology, The Horace Trail 2, Pompeii, Latin Vocab Drill
Evening excursion to Grado

Wednesday 7th July
Photoshop Elements course
Optional session: an introduction to fonts

Thursday 8th July
Morning: "Keep Talking" workshop on use of MP3 and MP4A files
Dynamic teaching with concept maps

Evening: Site visit – aquilea excavations and museum: taking photographs

Friday 9th July
Morning: creation of resources using Adobe Director
Afternoon: participants will either choose to complete the Director workshop, or they will use time to catalogue and refine their own photographs taken the previous day, with hands-on advice and help available in the lab. Participants will be encouraged to upload finished images to Flickr, so other colleagues can benefit from the collaboration.

Saturday 10th July
Morning: The final challenge
Participants will be put into groups on a random basis. They will work together to create a set of resources to present to the whole group. Resources will include graphics files, web pages, MP3 files, Shockwave files and concept maps.
