FULL DESCRIPTION OF TRAINING CONTENTS
IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE TRAINING: (EN)
Participants will be required to reply to a questionnaire so as to give the organizers more information on the participants’ specific needs and background. This will allow organizers to better cater to participants’ needs.
Participants will also be asked to prepare a short presentation about education in their countries and CLIL.
The course aims:
•to familiarise participants with CLIL and increase their understanding of the approach
•to introduce participants to CLIL implementation models and their practical implementation around Europe
•to familiarise participants with basic aspects of effective CLIL implementation
•to enable participants to design lesson plans and materials suitable for implementing CLIL in their specific context
lectures, workshops, classroom observations and critical reflection
participants will continue to cooperate through online tools such as blogs and forums
 
PROGRAMME OF THE TRAINING ACTIVITIES (DAY BY DAY)
11 May (Monday) – Day 1

Getting to know each other (ice-breaker activities)
An introduction to Cyprus and its educational system

What is CLIL? / Defining CLIL
The development of CLIL in Europe
CLIL models and implementation types around Europe

Issues in CLIL (the role of mother tongue, assessment)
Participants’ CLIL experiences (presentations of participant presentations)
Preparing for school visits

12 May (Tuesday) – Day 2
School visits: Observing CLIL lessons
Talking to teachers

Post-observation: Discussion / sharing impressions /
critical reflection on observed CLIL practice

Effective CLIL: CLIL Lesson planning
Effective CLIL techniques: Storytelling in CLIL / Working with texts

13 May (Wednesday) – Day 3
Analysing and evaluating CLIL materials
Technology in CLIL

Implementation and Evaluation of CLIL programmes around Europe: Perspectives from Researchers and Practitioners

14 May (Thursday) – Day 4
