Erasmus Mundus - Opportunities for Higher Education Institutions (Actions 1, 2, 3, 4)
Enhancing Attractiveness (Action 4)
This Action addresses higher education institutions and other
institutions active in the field of higher education located
anywhere in the world.
The Commission supports co-operation projects which aim at
enhancing the attractiveness of European higher education in the
world. Projects should aim at improving the profile, the brand
image, the visibility and the accessibility of European higher
education throughout the world. Projects can also deal with the
international dimension of quality assurance, of credit
recognition, of mutual recognition of qualifications with
third countries, of curriculum development or of mobility.
What activities are eligible?
Promotion campaigns, educational counselling, and information
diffusion are among the many activities taking place under Action 4.
A number of highly-qualified proposals that coordinate multiple
institutions were already successful under Erasmus Mundus. See the
list of selected projects.
Potential projects could include the following elements:
- Promoting European higher education in the world
The creation of information and dissemination tools, the
participation in international fairs, the organisation of seminars
and workshops, etc.
- Facilitating access for third-country students to European
higher education
The development of courses or material for language training and
cultural preparation, the development of more effective methods of
hosting and integrating third-country students, services
facilitating mobility, etc.
- Complementary activities
Support for activities dealing with issues inherent in the
internationalisation of higher education, such as the
international dimension of quality assurance, of credit
recognition, of curriculum development, surveys and studies, etc.
It should be noted that Action 4 projects should not aim to
promote single universities or individual Erasmus Mundus Masters
Courses.
Projects can last between one and three years.
Who can participate?
A co-operation project must involve institutions from at least
three European countries. Institutions from third countries are
welcome as additional project partners. In the interest of diffusing
the attractiveness campaign to a larger audience, projects with
third country partners are widely encouraged. Eligible institutions
are higher education institutions and other institutions active in
the field of higher education located anywhere in the world. Project
leaders have to be located in Europe.
What's the funding?
The European Commission funds up to 75% of projects costs. The
cost of projects varies greatly, depending on the type and size of
the project. Normally projects cost between 100,000 and 350,000
euros.
