The Leonardo da Vinci programme - Thematic monitoring

Thematic Monitoring is a qualitative process put in place since 2002 in the Leonardo da Vinci Programme to increase the impact of the innovative projects with focus on improvement of the quality of the projects.

The main elements are:

  • Content monitoring in order to improve quality at individual project level
  • Need analysis: what topics should be covered based on priorities
  • Clustering of projects into thematic groups to gain an overview of project content
  • Facilitate exchange of experience between project actors and improve the quality and impact at individual project level
  • To strengthen the networking between projects, practitioners and decision makers
  • Facilitate exchange of experience between National Agencies
  • To increase global impact at programme level

There are 6 ongoing projects within Thematic Monitoring that started autumn 2006:

  1. VET and the labour market, guidance, target groups
  2. Development of competencies and skills within companies, SME�s, competences at sectoral level
  3. Quality of VET systems and practices, continuous training of teachers and trainers
  4. Transparency of qualifications, validation of formal and informal learning, credit transfer
  5. E-learning
  6. Leonardo da Vinci Project and Product database
