The Leonardo Da Vinci Programme - Trans-National Mobility Projects
The "Mobility" action is one of the main measures of this
programme and provides for financial support to projects organising
trans-national training placements for young people in vocational
education and training as well as projects allowing the exchange of
experiences of trainers or human resources managers between European
countries.
The placements and exchanges are always organised in the
framework of a project. The so-called "project promoter", which has
to be an organisation or institution, plans and organises the
individual stays abroad for the beneficiaries. The project promoter
sets up and manages the project partnership (sending organisation,
host organisations, beneficiaries).
The Leonardo da Vinci Mobility measure is managed on a
decentralised basis through 33 National Agencies which have been set
up in every participating country. Their task is to organise the
selection of the best projects on the basis of a call for proposal,
to sign the contracts with the project promoters selected, to
monitor the implementation of the projects and to receive and
analyse the intermediate and final reports of the projects.
The demand for Leonardo da Vinci mobility has known an important
increase over the years. Starting with some 37.000 beneficiaries in
2000, the number should more than double in 2006 and reach some
84.500 participants: 38.500 young persons in initial training (including
apprentices), 16.000 young workers, 17.000 student placements in
companies, and 13.400 trainers.
