Higher Education – Opportunities for students

Higher Education – Opportunities for students

If you are a university student working towards a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctorate, you can apply to undertake a period of study abroad. Study abroad under the Erasmus+ programme can improve your skills and increase your employability.

What does it involve?

Students in the EU can gain credits for learning abroad for:

  • Studies;
  • Traineeships in a business.

Placements can last from two months, for a traineeship, or three months, for studies or combined study/traineeship, up to a year.

Students can also be selected by their higher education institution during the last year of study to undertake a traineeship abroad within one year of graduation.

Who can take part?

Students studying at bachelor's, master's or doctoral level, or those who are enrolled on a tertiary, short-cycle programme, can take part. Students (of all levels) enrolled in higher education institutions in participating countries may apply.

2,145 million higher education students, including around 115,000 to/from non-EU countries, are expected to take part between 2014 and 2020.
