90 university representatives from 24 different African countries came together in Brussels to look at the effects of an EU-funded programme for academic mobility between African countries.

The meeting organised by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) assessed the Intra-Africa academic mobility projects, and participants had the opportunity to network, share knowledge and exchange good practices to support and improve the implementation of student and staff mobility.

The sessions generated a lot of interest and lively discussions on the significant role of academic mobility as a driver for the internationalisation and harmonisation of higher education systems, confirming the relevance of this kind of mechanism to deepen cooperation within the African continent in this sector.

Colleagues from the European Commission's DGs covering both Development and Education joined the African Union Commission's Education Division in the meeting, which also provided an overview on the latest developments in the EU-Africa partnership on higher education.
