The European Commission welcomed  launch of Education at a Glance 2015, the annual report by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on the state of play and challenges faced by national education systems.

The report highlights the continuing importance of reducing inequalities and financing education as well as the role of early childhood education and care in order to make European societies more inclusive.

A European launch event took place in Brussels, during which Andreas Schleicher, the OECD Director for Education and Skills, presented the Education a Glance 2015 edition and Martine Reicherts, Director General of European Commission's Education and Culture DG, spoke about the EU perspective on the findings and their implications for EU policy, especially for ensuring social cohesion and trust.
