Erasmus+ Master Loan Guarantee Scheme – EIF calls on banks

New to Erasmus+ in 2015 is the Erasmus+ Master Loans Guarantee Scheme, initiated by the European Commission in cooperation with the European Investment Fund (EIF). As part of the implementation of this scheme on 13 February, the EIF launched a 'call for expression of interest' inviting banks to sign up to the new Erasmus+ Master Loans Guarantee Scheme. Loans will become available to Master students later in 2015, once banks have been selected by the EIF.

The loans should help Bachelor's graduates to study abroad for a full Master's degree (up to €12,000 for 1 year or up to €18,000 for a 2 year Master's programme – to be taken in a different EU/Erasmus+ country from where the student obtained their Bachelor's degree). The new Guarantee Scheme will see up to €3 billion in loans provided and will benefit up to 200,000 students by 2020.

The press release with more details on the guarantee scheme can be found on the EIF webpage; prospective Master students can find more information on the Erasmus+ Master loans under higher education.
