The goal of the 'Training teachers to make READing fun through digITal storytelling' project was to help teachers to motivate new generations of young readers through the making of book-trailers using video production techniques.
Working with high-school teachers and students, the project's methodology combined technology for digital storytelling to reinforce teaching of reading and writing in an interactive, creative and authentic way.
Schools from five countries – Italy, Denmark, Romania, Turkey and United Kingdom – took part in the project, which involved two stages.
The first was an e-learning course for teachers from each country focused on digital storytelling techniques, as well as video and book-trailer production. In the second part, teachers and students worked together in face-to-face sessions to create their digital projects.
The two-year project ran from 2010 to 2012.
